Our Center

History

Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University Music Application and Research Centre (MUAM) was established on 8 August 2021 with the decision published in the Official Gazette.

The Centre, which has been involved in many joint artistic and scientific activities since its foundation, continues to work for the development of music science and art with regional research projects, workshops and artistic and scientific activities in the field of music.

Objectives

The objectives of Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University Music Application and Research Centre (MUAM) is to carry out research, development and application studies covering all types and branches of music science and its fields of study, to contribute to the strengthening of the scientific, artistic and technological infrastructure of the country with the knowledge and experience available at the University in this field, to produce information and services for national and international cooperation, to contribute to music science and music education.

The fields of activity of the Centre are as follows:

a) To organize scientific research, applied and educational activities in line with the purpose of the Centre and to create joint projects with the relevant units of the University.

 b) To cooperate and provide consultancy services with similar institutions in Turkey and abroad for the realization of the activities aimed at the purpose of the Centre, and to take necessary initiatives for joint scientific-artistic projects and studies.

c) To organize conferences, seminars, symposiums, congresses, recitals, concerts, competitions, courses, exhibitions, and similar activities at national and international level; to grant scholarships to successful researchers and students.

ç) To make audiovisual publications for the purpose of the Centre, to support the production of periodical and non-periodical publications.

d) To create a music library, sheet music collection, printed-written music documents, photographs, posters, brochures, stone records, LPs, CDs, cassettes, tapes, DVDs, VCDs and other written, audio-visual documents.

e) To organize regular concert activities with national and international music ensembles (chamber music, orchestra-chorus and similar) to be established within the Centre.

f) To support activities that will reveal the historical importance of Çanakkale.

g) To carry out scientific researches on the effects of music on disabled individuals, to share the results with those concerned and to produce projects on this subject.
